As you can guess from the lengthy pauses between these blog posts, the question I get asked most about Inhumanwich! is, simply, “When are you gonna finish the dang thing?” If only it were that easy. As I’ve mentioned before, we’re stuck in the long, slow crawl of visual effects, and currently that’s all in the hands of Ryan.
Problem is, Ryan can only work on the effects when he’s not busy earning a paycheck – which, luckily for him, is rather often these days. Progress has therefore slowed to a half-crawl, and yeah, that’s as frustrating to us as it is to you.
Which brings me to: with Ryan’s blessing, I’ve decided to bring in some extra hands in crafting the film’s effects sequences. Spreading the workload over several people will take stress off of Ryan (and possibly get some fresh eyes on the project, which we could use right now to make sure we don’t get stale in our assumptions of the work so far). This is our best chance to get this movie finished before the end of the year.
So this is a call for help. If you have any experience with creating CGI effects and/or handling green screen compositing (even if it’s on the hobbyist/amateur level), and if you don’t mind doing something on spec (as Mo Fuzz would say), we’d love to have you aboard. If you know anyone who meets the above criteria, please pass this request along.
Naturally, we’d prefer someone from the Greater Cincinnati area so we can have some face-to-face meetings, but we’re perfectly willing to work with anyone anywhere with access to a Dropbox account. That’s how we’re working with the California-based Ryan right now.
To be clear: this is an unpaid gig, so all you’ll get out of this is screen credit. If you’re cool with that, we’re cool with you.
If you’re interested, drop me a line at argooneproductions[at]gmail.com. We’ll talk about what we’ve already done, what needs to be done, and how you can possibly help.
